House Underwater and Barn Exercise is a residential complex designed for sports and water enthusiasts – diving and swimming. Placing a transparent pool above the living room made water become an integral part of the house. We have avoided creating a barrier between the house and the garden thanks to the elevation of the 23 m pool to a higher level. From the living room we can go directly to the terrace and further to the barn of exercise. We have created a spectacular view from the interior of the day zone – both the beautiful landscape and the water that filters the sunlight. The glazed pool has become a roof of the terrace being an extension of the two-level living room. The swimming pool is accessible from the upper terrace located at the entrance and entry level of the house. Here we have located a garage and a night zone – directly adjacent to the water surface which will correspond with a beautiful view.
The pool and house are intertwined. Water becomes a part of not only the day zone, kitchen and dining room, but also the entrance hall, communication system – winding stairs and mezzanine, the main bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, dining room and even garage!
The house is topped with a minimalist form of loneliness – a contemplative space. Its subtle deflection in relation to the direction of the house is to emphasize not only the attractive view but also to be a dynamic dominant for the whole team which with form and material corresponds with the barn of Exercises located at the opposite end of the plot.
An additional feature of the project is the possibility of very easy adaptation of the residence to the function of a hotel with 11 apartments. This adaptation will not force interference in the construction of the house and glazing of the façade. Only internal partition walls will require rebuilding.
The roof of the house will be covered with a solar-slate system that generates energy comparable to solar energy. The finishing material here are not the solar panels and the aesthetic stone tile. A controlled electronic raster system will also be used. One will control the flow of light and view openings from the glazed garage, while the other will regulate the level of insolation of the terrace and living room.
In the immediate vicinity of the terrace we have designed a shady garden which will be another interesting space, an intermediate form between the interior of the house and the outside garden.
Located at the other end of the plot, Barn of Exercises is a facility where there is a gym space, a sauna, a bathroom and an outdoor bathtub. The barn has been designed so that the gym space in the summer had the form of an open roofed space thanks to the possibility of sliding three transparent walls.
